Important things about Chapter 1


1/ Vt is in the range of 0.02- 0.04V

2/ In reverse bias : The resistance increases when the current increases as the depletion region becomes bigger ( R in Mega, I in micro or nano)

3/ In forward bias : The resistance decreases when the current increases as the depletion region becomes smaller ( R in ohms , I in mili)

4/ You have only six equations : Id , Vt, Rdc, rac( two equations), rav.

5/ Please make sure that you know how to draw each model characteristics graph

Different type , same direction = The one with lowest Vk ( on ) , the other ( off) . 6/ Full-wave biased rectifier, using silicone instead of ideal , there will be a small area in between each wave + you should consider this voltage while talking about (on - off conditions) ( see our quiz ) 7/ There is no cut in series clippers, while in parallel biased clippers there is ( check slide 50 and 51) 8/ You know clampers by seeing the capacitor. 9/ In clampers, start when the diode is on --->find Vo -----> find the charge in capacitor ----> change polarity of Vi -------> find Vo 10/ Zener works in reverse bias 11/When Vi> Vz , zener is on otherwise it is open circuit. 12/ You can find VL by voltage divider rule , check if it is > Vz Yes: VL = Vz No: VL= VL , the zener is off
